The beach that could be drawn on the business card of Tenerife is called Teresitas Beach. It is located in the town of San Andrés, 9 km from the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Despite the fact that this beach is not located in the capital, it can be considered the best city beach, because there are definitely no better beaches in the vicinity.
The beach stretches for one and a half kilometers so there is enough space for everyone.
The beach is famous and popular for several reasons. The first reason is the perfectly yellow sand. On all other beaches of Tenerife, the sand is volcanic and black. And here, on Teresitas, it is golden yellow. How did it happen? In the 70s, it became clear that tourism in Tenerife could become a profitable business, it was decided to develop the island's infrastructure and increase its attractiveness. First of all, the island needed a fabulous beach of the dreams. Dream beaches are usually white or yellow, and here there is black sand all around. The nearest place with wonderful sand of the desired color is the Sahara Desert, which is literally across the road. Ships headed towards the Sahara to collect yellow sand and bring it to Teresitas. 320 thousand tons of sand were taken out of the Sahara and covered an area about two kilometers long and more than a hundred meters wide. To protect the beach from waves, breakwaters were created, and sprawling palm trees were planted along the coast to give this place a tropical look.
The second reason why we like Teresitas is the excellent service. People come here for relaxation and a good attitude and people get it. Polite staff, cleanliness, not too high prices for services, delicious cocktails in cute beach bars, entertainment for adults and children, sports grounds and a gorgeous view of the sea and mountains - all this awaits you here.
The beach has everything you need for a perfect holiday: rental of sunbeds and umbrellas (2-4 euros per day), showers and toilets, cafes and bars, children's play areas, sports grounds, parking.
The beach is ideal for families with children, because the descent into the water is very gentle, and there are never big waves here.
