Playa del Socorro

The resort town of El Socorro is located 23 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Here you will find several beaches made of black volcanic sand. There is no facilities on the beaches: no sunbeds, no umbrellas, no stores, no cafes. But there is an endless ocean, clean black sand, beautiful big stones, high hills that frame the beach, and bright sun which is all yours.

People come here to get closer to nature, meet sunrises and see off sunsets, hike in the mountains, and learn Spanish in local markets. In El Socorro, you can walk along the quiet streets of the city, try local food in small eateries, stroll slowly along the promenade, admire the ocean, and if you like extreme sports, you can even try yourself as a surfer.
