There used to be the Capuchin monastery of Santa Madrona on this square. But the fire of 1835 destroyed the monastery and the city government decided to build a square. It was called Royal.
Thousands of people come here every day to drink a cup of coffee, enjoy the shadow of the palm trees, and relax near the fountain. There are a lot of bars, restaurants and good hotels here. It is not far from the city center and it makes this location perfect for living.
