Mataro beaches
Mataro is a resort town situated 30 km from Barcelona.

Mataro beaches are not as crowded as Barceloneta beach or Bogatell. You can come to Mataro and rest by the sea.
There are wooden paths along the beach so you can enjoy a nice stroll along the seaside. The railways are not far from the beach, but they won't disturb you.
Mataro is located on a low mountain near the sea, so when you get tired of lying on the beach, you can explore the local beauties and buy souvenirs in the market. Mataro is a small town, but there is something to see here. For example, ancient Roman ruins, medieval walls, Catholic churches in the traditional Spanish style, several historical museums, an elegant town hall, and even a building erected by Gaudi himself. Not only Sagrada Familia is built by Gaudi. There is something exceptional, for example, this ordinary and at the same time not so simple building of the Mataró Cooperative (address: Carrer de la Cooperativa, 47, Mataró). It was designed in 1878-1883 and was one of the first buildings designed by the architect. The cooperative looks like a depot or a warehouse. The first floor is made of bricks, and the ceiling is arched and wooden. Now the building is used as the Museum of Modern Art and you can even see the exposition.
How to get to Mataro
The easiest way to come here is by train. Trains depart from the center of Barcelona, from Placa de Catalunia station. The fare costs 4-5 euros. Trains usually run from 5.00 to 00.00, check the schedule at the station or on the website of the railways.

Mataro is a small town, so the beach will not be far away wherever you stay. The best options are the comfortable URH Ciutat de Mataró, located a 15-minute walk from the beach, or the budget B&B Hotel Barcelona Mataro, which offers comfortable rooms and traditional service.
