People say that the heart and soul of the resort town of Puerto de la Cruz are hidden in Plaza del Charco.
The area is located in the very center of the city. Playa Jardin lies 1 km from the square, and the second most important beach, Playa Martianez, is located 1 km on the other side. The Botanical Garden is a 20-minute walk away.
This square looks unusual. It is all planted with greenery and looks more like a small green park. And not just a park, but a park, which for some reason is planted by very rare dragon trees. There is a fountain in the center of the square, benches around the fountain where you can relax in the shade of trees, and a playground so children won't get bored. Old houses surround the square, with restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops waiting for guests.
There is even a small shopping mall on the square, in case you suddenly need a swimsuit or glasses.
Peopla come to Piazza Charco in the evenings to sit in one of the cafes, order wine and watch the rays of the evening sun play in a glass. It is an ideal place to try local seafood, eat ice cream, listen to the music and Spanish speech flowing from everywhere, and understand that life is beautiful.
Not far from the square, there is a tourist center where you can get a map of the islands and a couple of ideas about where to go. For example, in the sunny Loro Park, the largest water park in Europe, Siam Park, or the mysterious Teide volcano.
