One of the central squares of Palma is named after Spain - Plaza de España. The square is located in the city center, so it will not be difficult to find it.
There is a monument to Jaime I - the king of Aragon, Mallorca and Valencia, in the middle of the square. It is that very king who conquered the island from the Moors.
Previously, the area was called Porta Pintada, but in the last century it got its name in connection with the victory of General Franco and his minions in the Civil War of 1936-1939.
There are a huge number of eateries, cafes and restaurants around the square, so you should come here if you do not know where to dine.
Next to the square is the large Parc de les Estacions, where you can relax in the shade of the trees if you are tired of walking around the city.
There is a large underground transport hub Estacio Intermodal on the right side of the square (if you stand with your back to the sea). It combines the bus station, railway station and metro station. From this station you can get to any corner of the island. Here you will also find the city bus №1 which runs between the center of Palma and the airport.
