Costa Adeje
The city of Costa Adeje is one of the most popular resorts in Tenerife and the Canary Islands.
It is located 90 km from the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
There are two more large resorts, Las Americas and Los Cristianos, near Costa Adeje. Together they form a large resort complex with beaches, hotels, cafes, restaurants, and clubs. All three resorts are connected by a beautiful promenade overlooking the ocean.
Costa Adeje, like Las Americas and Los Cristianos, attracts tourists with golden sandy beaches, which are rare on this volcanic island. Most of the beaches in Tenerife are black; the Teide volcano and its younger brothers are the cause of it. And the beaches of Costa Adeje are yellow. This is due to the proximity of the Sahara, from where yellow sand brings to these shores.
Speaking of the Sahara, it is worth remembering the most famous beach of Tenerife - Teresitas. It is located in the capital of the island, the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This beach is famous all over Spain because the perfect yellow sand brought here from the Sahara in the 1970s. 320 thousand tons of sand and the perfect beach is ready.
If you like a party vacation filled with fun and dancing, it is better to settle closer to the city of Los Cristianos, near the beach of Playa de Torviscas or Playa de Troya. If you are looking for a quieter time, you will be comfortable on the other side of the city, near Playa del Duque.
The whole tourist life revolves around the three central beaches with their beach bars and cafes, open terraces and ocean views, perfect nightclubs where incendiary parties take place, and souvenir shops where you can buy memories of your vacation.
Costa Adeje has a large Aqualand water park, where tourists and locals come from all nearby resorts. It is small, but it will be interesting for both children and adults.
The resort has another water park, bigger and more interesting. It is called Siam Park and it is the largest water park in Europe. There you will find 15 slides of various difficulty levels, including slides that simulate surfing, free fall, and even weightlessness, an artificial river, a big children's area with lots of pools, slides, and other entertainment.
The best beaches in Costa Adeje
The most popular beaches of Costa Adeje are Playa del Duque, Playa Fanabe, and Playa de Torviscas. These beaches have excellent facilities, and the most comfortable hotels are located along the ocean.
Playa del Duc is located on the outskirts of the city and is an oasis of luxury holidays. The fine sand of golden color, comfortable sunbeds, sprawling palm trees that give coolness - all this is waiting for you here. The five-star Iberostar Grand El Mirador is responsible for luxury. The hotel operates on an Adults Only basis. It offers spacious junior suites and large outdoor terraces where it is so nice to have breakfast with ocean views, as well as Mediterranean restaurants, live music bars, several pools, and a spa.
Just 500 meters from Playa del Duque is the luxurious five-star Tivoli La Caleta Resort, where you will find stylish rooms with ocean and garden views, four restaurants, several bars, pools with green sun terraces, a spa, and excellent service.
Playa Fanabe consists of dark sand, but in some places, there is also light. The beach is equipped with everything you need: there is a rental of sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and equipment for outdoor activities rentals, where you can ride a catamaran, scooter, boat, or surf. Along the beach, there are beach cafes and bars, kiosks with beach accessories, and souvenir shops.
The best hotels near Fanabe Beach include the five-star Iberostar Selection Anthelia, with elegant rooms, great restaurants, large pools and spas, and the Iberostar Grand Salomé, which operates on an adults only basis. Another good hotel is called Los Olivos Beach Resort. This is a comfortable apart-hotel where you can rent cozy apartments located a minute's walk from the beach.
Near the city port, there is another small beach called Playa de la Pinta. This is not the best beach in the city, firstly, because of the proximity to the port, and secondly, because of the sharp stones that are inconvenient to walk on. On this beach, you can sit and admire the ocean but swimming and sunbathing is better on other beaches.
