One of the most important city attractions and the architectural child of Antonio Gaudi is located in the center of Barcelona, 700 meters from Placa de Catalunya.
The house was built for the Catalan businessman Josep Batllo y Casanovas in 1877. Gaudi reconstructed an earlier building and he did it perfectly.
All the facades and balconies were redesigned, floors were added, a terrace and an attic were built, and a spacious courtyard was constructed. Gaudi had always paid extra attention to the ventilation system so now the building is ventilated without air conditioning even on hot summer days.
Batllo's house decor looks very unusual and elegant. The building seems to be floating down the street, its materials and colors are so soft as if the building is gently wrapped in wonderful mist.
The museum is open every day from 9.00 to 21.00
The cost of visiting is from 25 to 39 euros.
