In 1878 Gaudí had received his degree in architecture. He met the famous Catalan manufacturer Manuel Vicens who asked the future architect to build a house for him. It was a wonderful proposition so the work started.
A former summer residence of Vicens family is built of dark stone and decorated with ceramic tiles. Manuel Vicens was an owner of the tile factory so tiles were a symbol of his occupation. Later Gaudi will use tiles decorating the Guell Palace and Park Guell.
House is interesting because of its unusually shaped windows, turrets and chimneys, numerous balconies, also because of its elegance, intricacy and beauty.
